Kano State launches 800-tree planting campaign at college
The Kano State Government has launched the ‘Make AKCILS Green’ initiative, beginning with the planting of 800 tree seedlings at the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies. The project is a collaborative effort between the college’s Agricultural Science Department and the state Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change.
State Commissioner Dahir Hashim flagged off the exercise, stating it is a practical step toward building a climate-resilient society and fostering environmental responsibility among students. Hashim encouraged other educational institutions, government agencies, and private organizations within Kano State to adopt similar environmental stewardship practices.
The college’s Acting Provost, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, noted that the initiative aligns with the environmental and climate change reforms implemented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
