Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board sets e-passport deadline for 2027 Hajj

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has established September 5, 2026, as the deadline for intending 2027 Hajj pilgrims to submit their e-passports. Director-General Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle announced that failure to meet this deadline will result in the forfeiture of the pilgrim's slot, which will then be reallocated to a standby list of approximately 200 qualified individuals.

This measure is intended to ensure the state complies with timelines set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Matawalle noted that any slots remaining unutilized after September 10 would be reclaimed by NAHCON for reallocation to other states. Pilgrims who miss the deadline will have their payments refunded within 24 hours.

The board is also implementing operational improvements for the 2027 exercise, including early airlift arrangements, better accommodation management, and streamlined issuance of “Masuk” identification cards to prevent the logistical delays experienced in previous years.
