Kano Task Force inaugurates nine committees to fight drug trafficking

The Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking (MATFDAT) has inaugurated nine subcommittees to intensify efforts against drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State. The inauguration, led by Chairman Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, took place on Friday, August 21, 2026.

According to official statements, the committees were established to provide a specialized and coordinated approach to the drug problem. The subcommittees include Finance, Media and Publicity, Advocacy and Sensitisation, Licences, Inventory and Verification, Compliance, Inspection and Electronic Tracking, Monitoring and Implementation, Intelligence, Reformative and Traditional Council, and the Anti-Drug Coordination Committee.

Chairman Rimin Gado urged members to approach their roles with dedication, professionalism, and a sense of service, emphasizing that the success of the task force depends on the commitment of each committee to achieve lasting results through effective coordination.
