Kano's Hajaj‑ZOEC Digital Market opens, targeting N50bn revenue and 100,000 jobs

On Saturday, Kano State inaugurated the Hajaj‑ZOEC Digital Market, a public‑private partnership between the Kano State Government, Hajaj ZOEC Real Estate Limited and ZOEC Construction, on the former Luxury Bus Park site in Tudun Wada, Sabon Gari.

The complex, built at a cost of N25‑30 bn, houses more than 1 500 shops for electrical and electronic products, underground storage for over 30 forty‑foot containers, parking for about 700 vehicles and modern fire‑suppression systems, making it the largest dedicated electronics market in West Africa.

Officials project the market will generate roughly N50 bn in annual revenue and create over 100 000 direct and indirect jobs in wholesale, retail, logistics and related services. Investors from China and Egypt have already opened permanent showrooms, and about 60‑65 % of the shop space was sold before full operations began.

The federal Ministry of State for Housing and Urban Development described the facility as a model of technology‑driven commerce that will boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional trade.
