Kanpur Development Authority demolishes illegal structures on government land

The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) conducted a demolition drive in the Barra-6 area of Kanpur to remove alleged encroachments on government land. The operation targeted structures, including a boundary wall and rooms, that were situated on land owned by the authority.

According to KDA Official Satya Shukla, a portion of a cemetery was identified as being located on government property. The administration stated that due process was followed, including issuing notices under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act-1973 and providing the concerned parties with opportunities to present their case. A High Court petition filed by the affected party was reportedly dismissed prior to the demolition.

The drive, supported by police and PAC forces to maintain law and order, resulted in the recovery of approximately 2,500 to 3,000 square metres of government land.
