Kanpur Husband Fled After Alleged Poisoning of Wife

A 23‑year‑old woman from Bihar, identified as Rinku alias Ranjoo Kumari, died under suspicious circumstances in Kanpur's Govind Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh. Her family alleges that after the birth of their daughter, her husband, auto driver Pankaj, increasingly abused her, eventually beating her and forcing her to ingest a poisonous substance before fleeing the scene.

Police have taken the body for a post‑mortem examination and have opened an investigation into the death, treating it as a possible homicide. The victim’s relatives have demanded that a murder case be filed against the husband and are staging protests at the hospital and post‑mortem facility. A search operation for the fugitive husband is underway.
