Kanpur official denies distributing expired syrup to flood victims

Indradev Singh, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kanpur Nagar, has dismissed allegations that expired syrup was distributed to flood victims at a relief camp held on September 2.

Following an investigation, the CMO clarified that Trimethoprim and Sulfamethoxazole IP syrup was not distributed during the relief camp. Departmental records and stock status contradict the claims, showing that the specific batch of syrup received at the Kanpur Nagar drug warehouse in 2025 had already been distributed to all community and primary health centers by March 2025.

An examination of the stock registers for the flood relief camp revealed no entries for the syrup in question. The CMO concluded that the allegations of distributing expired medication are baseless, as the medicine is currently unavailable at any local health centers.
