Kanpur businessman Vineet Minocha murder investigation names daughter-in-law as mastermind

Police in Kanpur have arrested Shalu, the daughter-in-law of slain pharmaceutical trader Vineet Minocha, naming her the alleged mastermind behind his murder. Investigators believe Shalu orchestrated the killing for financial motives, arranging for two contract killers to enter the family apartment.

The suspects, identified as Vishal—a former domestic worker—and Rajkishore, allegedly entered the residence after being facilitated by Shalu. While the attackers waited in the apartment for Minocha to return, Shalu and her husband, Subrat, reportedly attended a party at a local lounge.

A viral video showing Shalu and her husband dancing at the lounge on the night of the crime has surfaced, prompting police to verify the exact timing and authenticity of the footage. Authorities noted that the lack of robbery at the scene, despite the victim's wealth, helped shift the investigation toward a family conspiracy. Police are continuing to examine CCTV and mobile footage as part of the ongoing probe.
