Fatal aircraft crashes reported in India and the United States

Two separate fatal aircraft accidents occurred in India and the United States on August 26 and 27, 2026.

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a twin-engine Tecnam training aircraft operated by Garg Aviation crashed into a field near the Ganga River near Natthapurwa village. The accident occurred around 11:50 a.m. during a routine training flight. Both pilots, instructor Sachin Bhatia from Gujarat and trainee Abhishek Pujari from Karnataka, were killed. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) have launched investigations into the cause of the crash.

In the United States, a small Piper PA-24 aircraft crashed into waters near Seldovia, Alaska, on August 26. The aircraft was traveling from Anchorage to Seldovia when the accident occurred. Authorities recovered the bodies of four adults from the wreckage after the tide receded. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident.
