Kanpur: Two workers killed by high-tension line during installation

Two workers, an uncle and his nephew, were killed after coming into contact with a high-tension power line while installing aluminum grills at the Balaji Stuti Apartments in the Keshavpuram area of Kanpur.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning during work on a second-floor balcony. Reports indicate that as the workers were measuring or lifting the grill, a component or a measuring tape made contact with the overhead high-tension lines, causing a massive electrical discharge.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Mithlesh Pal and his 25-year-old nephew, Abhishek Pal. A third worker, Rizwan, sustained severe burns and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Local police arrived at the scene to investigate the distance between the workers and the power lines at the time of the incident.
