Kansai Electric Power's MOACT app links loyalty points to JPYC stablecoin via Polygon
Kansai Electric Power Co.'s rewards subsidiary, MOACT, has enabled users to convert NORM Points earned on its loyalty app into JPYC, a regulated yen‑pegged stablecoin. The conversion runs on the Polygon network and is facilitated through the HashPort wallet, allowing point holders to hold, send or deploy JPYC on‑chain. The feature launched on July 30, 2026, expanding a previous integration that added JPYC support to HashPort earlier in the year.
JPYC, introduced in 2025 under Japan’s Payment Services Act, maintains a 1:1 peg to the yen and is the country’s first regulated stablecoin. Polygon has become the primary chain for JPYC activity, handling the majority of its transfer volume. This development bridges a closed‑loop rewards system with broader decentralized finance, giving Japanese consumers a practical on‑ramp to digital money while reflecting Japan’s clear regulatory framework for stablecoins.
