Kansai railway companies launch joint feature on historic coffee shops
Four major railway companies in the Kansai region—NANKAI, Hankyu Railway, Hanshin Electric Railway, and Kintetsu Railway—are launching a joint special feature in their September issues titled “Half-Century Coffee Shops.” The project highlights coffee shops that have been in business for over 50 years, celebrating their role in the history and culture of the railway lines they serve.
The feature aims to promote regional revitalization by encouraging passengers to travel between different lines to visit these nostalgic establishments. The magazines will showcase signature menu items and the unique atmospheres of these long-standing shops.
This collaborative effort expands upon a previous initiative by NANKAI in December 2025, which focused specifically on the Namba and Shinsekai areas. Additionally, JR West will participate in the project by featuring a related special on “Half-Century Coffee Shops” in the November issue of its “Nishi Navi” magazine.
