Kansai region faces two‑week heat wave as Osaka and Kyoto brace for near‑record temperatures

The Osaka Meteorological Observatory has issued an early weather warning indicating that the Kansai region will experience "considerably high temperatures" for the next two weeks, well above seasonal averages. Osaka and Kyoto are expected to see almost every day classified as a scorching‑heat day, raising concerns about heat‑related health risks.

In Kyoto, the city hosted a "weather fair" at the Youth Science Center in Fushimi Ward, where the director of the Kyoto Local Meteorological Observatory, Takashi Nomura, highlighted the limits of computer forecasts, noting that models can err. The event featured hands‑on demonstrations, including simulated tornadoes and liquefaction experiments, aimed at educating the public about extreme weather phenomena.
