Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach faces ethics complaints and conversion therapy ban challenges

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach is facing new allegations of campaign finance law violations. Separately, Kobach has issued ultimatums to the cities of Lawrence, Roeland Park, and Prairie Village, demanding they repeal local bans on conversion therapy within 60 days. This move follows legal shifts, including a Supreme Court ruling in Colorado that found a ban on certain therapy violated the First Amendment. While the legal landscape regarding these bans is changing, medical organizations such as the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association continue to maintain that conversion therapy is ineffective and harmful to LGBTQ+ youth.
