Kansas City arts scene announces 2026-2027 season highlights
The Kansas City performing arts scene is preparing for a diverse 2026-2027 season featuring various musical and dance productions. The Kansas City Symphony will perform Prometheus on September 9, featuring piano soloist George Li and works by Alexander Scriabin, Luciano Berio, and Edgard Varèse.
In dance, the Midwest Trust Center will host the annual New Dance Partners event from September 18-19. This collaboration will showcase new works from choreographers including Caili Quan with the Kansas City Ballet, Christopher Page-Sanders, Jennifer Owen, and Katarzyna Skarpetowska.
Additionally, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City is extending its partnership with Kansas City Public Schools for the 2026-27 school year. The program will place professional teaching artists in four schools—Central High School, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy High School, Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Middle School, and Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts—to provide yearlong instruction in choir and theater for approximately 300 students.
