Kansas City Chiefs face wide receiver injury setbacks
The Kansas City Chiefs face significant depth challenges in their receiving corps following a bye week. Wide receiver Rashee Rice is unlikely to play in the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a hamstring injury sustained during the previous matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. While Rice has not been placed on injured reserve, which suggests a shorter absence, he was a non-participant in recent practice.
Additionally, the team is dealing with the loss of Tyquan Thornton, who was placed on injured reserve after dislocating his ankle. Thornton could miss up to four months, placing increased responsibility on wide receiver Xavier Worthy and other roster members including Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and Nikko Remigio.
On the offensive line, left tackle Josh Simmons has returned to practice. From a strategic standpoint, the absence of Rice may increase the target volume for tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
