Kansas City Chiefs finalize 53-man roster following wave of cuts
The Kansas City Chiefs have finalized their initial 53-man roster, resulting in several notable departures and acquisitions. Former undrafted cornerback Kevin Knowles, who was a standout on special teams last season, was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On the quarterback depth chart, the Chiefs will move forward with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Fields, and Garrett Nussmeier. Chris Oladokun was waived with an injury designation and is expected to revert to injured reserve if unclaimed. Other significant roster moves include the release of defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah and the placement of wide receiver Jimmy Holiday on injured reserve.
The team also made numerous other cuts across multiple positions, including running back Emari Demercado, offensive lineman Esa Pole, and linebacker Cole Christiansen. To bolster the roster, the Chiefs acquired offensive linemen Diego Pounds and Joshua Ezeudu via trade, and claimed defensive tackle Bryson Eason and linebacker Jack Pyburn.
