Los Angeles Rams defeat Kansas City Chiefs in preseason opener

The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-12 in their preseason opener at Arrowhead Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Rams rookie quarterback Ty Simpson, who completed 21 of 25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

On the Chiefs' side, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes did not play due to an abundance of precaution following reconstructive knee surgery. Backup Justin Fields saw action in the first quarter, while Garrett Nussmeier and Chris Oladokun also received playing time. Despite the loss, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed satisfaction with the production from several young players, including wide receiver Cyrus Allen and running back Emmett Johnson.

Off the field, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce drew significant media attention by displaying his gold wedding band, following his recent marriage to Taylor Swift. Kelce also debuted a new look, sporting a mustache and a fresh haircut during his arrival at the stadium.
