Kansas Jayhawks defeat Long Island 51-6 in season opener

Running back Yasin Willis contributed two rushing touchdowns, while Jalen Dupree, Micah Johnson, and Donald Collier each added a rushing score. Nik McMillan made a notable debut, recording six receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. The Jayhawks' defense limited Long Island to 146 total yards, marking one of the fewest yards allowed during head coach Lance Leipold’s tenure.

Despite the blowout, the game served as a preview for the upcoming Border Showdown against rival Missouri. Analysts noted that while Marshall showed promise as a passer, the team's offensive strength remains rooted in a dominant rushing attack.
