Kansas Senate race intensifies as Roger Marshall faces scrutiny
As the midterm election cycle intensifies, Democratic candidates are targeting Republican-held territories to gain control of the Senate. In Kansas, Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton is running against Republican incumbent Senator Roger Marshall. While Hamilton focuses on voter frustration regarding the cost of living, Marshall has begun launching attack ads against his opponent.
Reports regarding Marshall’s background have surfaced, detailing his decades-long career as an obstetrician-gynecologist. An analysis indicates that Marshall filed lawsuits against more than 700 patients with outstanding medical bills. These legal actions included garnishing paychecks and bank accounts, and in 81 cases, patients were arrested for missing court dates. Some of the targeted individuals were new mothers in rural areas with high poverty rates.
Nationally, Democrats aim to use these campaigns to provide a check on the presidency, while Republicans look to leverage financial advantages and the rise of democratic socialists as a political liability for the opposition.
