Kany García reveals diagnosis of chronic spinal condition

Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany García has revealed that she suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic inflammatory disease that affects her spine and causes her to hunch over.

During the first day of Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami, García shared her diagnosis after being asked about her fears. She noted that the condition is a “close relative of arthritis” and expressed that the physical reality of her spine curving more over time causes her anxiety.

García is currently promoting her ‘Puerta Abierta Tour,’ which includes more than 80 dates. She mentioned that the physical demands of performing in stadiums and arenas can sometimes cause pain. To manage the condition, she has implemented a routine involving 20-minute stretching sessions, gym visits, and sleeping up to 10 hours a day. She expressed a desire to enjoy her current mobility and stage performances while she is still able to do so.
