Kanye West draws 34,000 fans in Portugal concert amid controversy

On Friday, Kanye West performed at the Algarve Stadium in Portugal to an audience of about 34,000, despite calls for the show to be cancelled.

The concert followed visa denials and tour cancellations in Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Italy and the Czech Republic because of West’s past antisemitic remarks and expressed support for Nazism. Israeli ambassador Oren Rozenblat publicly urged Portuguese authorities to cancel the event, calling it a "shame for Portugal," but the performance went ahead without incident. West opened roughly 45 minutes late, sang hits such as "Stronger," "Gold Digger," "American Boy" and "I Can't Wait," and briefly performed a duet with his daughter North West.

This was West’s third appearance in Portugal (previous shows in 2006 and 2011) and was intended to promote his twelfth album, "Bully." In a full‑page Wall Street Journal advertisement he apologized for earlier hateful comments, describing the behavior as a four‑month manic, psychotic episode.
