Kao launches SOFINA BASIC+ skin‑care line in Japan

Japanese cosmetics giant Kao announced the launch of a new skin‑care sub‑brand, SOFINA BASIC+, on 8 August 2026. The line, developed from more than four decades of stratum‑corneum research, includes a “Turbo Moisture Lotion” and a “Turbo Moisture Emulsion” that target skin hydration at the cellular level.

The products are priced for everyday use, with the lotion sold at ¥1,430 for 160 ml and the emulsion at ¥1,650 for 120 ml, alongside larger refill and pump formats. They will be distributed through drugstores, supermarkets and other self‑service retail channels across Japan, emphasizing a balance of efficacy and affordability that reflects recent consumer shifts toward “value‑conscious” daily skincare.

Kao highlights that the formulations combine protein care and ceramide technology, featuring “self‑absorption” and “high‑penetration ceramide” innovations to maintain moisture throughout the day.
