Kaohsiung and New Taipei City announce major urban development plans

In Kaohsiung, Mayor Chen Chi-mai is considering the construction of a new integrated administrative center in Qiaotou to meet growing local service demands. The city is evaluating municipal land within the Qiaotou New Town area to house district offices, health centers, and household registration offices through public urban renewal or social housing projects. Additionally, the city is addressing the development of CPC Corporation dormitories near the TSMC plant area, balancing historical preservation with urban renewal to support the semiconductor industrial cluster.

In New Taipei City, Mayor Hou Yu-ih has outlined a 10-year urban development plan centered on four major metropolitan hubs. These hubs include ‘Da-Xin-Ban’ (Banqiao, Yonghe, Zhonghe, Xindian), ‘Xin-Wu-Tai’ (Xinzhuang, Wugu, Taishan), ‘San-Lu’ (Sanchong, Luzhou), and ‘Tu-Shu-San-Ying’ (Tucheng, Shulin, Sanxia, Yingge). The plan aims to evolve the city’s infrastructure from a ‘3-ring, 6-line, 3-axis’ model to a ‘4-ring, 8-line, 4-hub’ system to drive urban renewal and social housing development.
