Kaohsiung develops O9 station area into multi-functional urban hub

Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-jung recently inspected the completed O9 detention park near the Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line O9 station. The project is part of a larger urban development plan involving the O9 joint development case and the Lingya Sports Park, also known as ‘Kaohsiung Highline Park’.

The development aims to transform the area into a multi-functional hub integrating commercial, residential, sports, and leisure facilities. Future plans include office spaces, business hotels, shops, and residential buildings. A pedestrian bridge system will connect these areas to the ‘Kaohsiung Highline’ green walking system to create a human-centric urban space.

The O9 detention park covers approximately 0.57 hectares. It utilizes Low Impact Development (LID) design and topographical variations to provide a detention capacity of about 5,633 cubic meters, serving both as a recreational space and a flood control measure during extreme rainfall. The park features a circular walking system, children's playgrounds with climbing walls and slides, and outdoor fitness facilities.
