Kaohsiung hosts 4th annual road excavation and engineering seminar

The Kaohsiung City Government Public Works Bureau hosted the 4th annual Road Excavation Management and Engineering Technology Seminar in Kaohsiung. The event brought together central and local government officials, academic experts, and industry professionals to discuss the latest trends in road excavation and engineering technology.

International experts provided specialized insights, including Dr. Wu Chung-lung, former deputy director of the Maryland Department of Transportation, who shared management systems from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Additionally, Associate Professor Mohd Rosli Mohd Hasan from Universiti Sains Malaysia discussed circular economy practices, specifically the use of recycled materials in road paving through cold in-place recycling processes.

Kaohsiung officials highlighted the city's progress in pipeline management, noting that the Kaohsiung Road Excavation Management Center has spent eight years refining its systems in integration, intelligence, resilience, and heritage. The seminar also included an awards ceremony to recognize excellence in road excavation and restoration among utility providers and construction firms.
