Kaohsiung hosts major fitness and international street dance events
Kaohsiung recently hosted two major community events focused on fitness and urban culture. The third annual ‘Run Kaohsiung 3.0’ concluded with a prize draw for over 8,400 participants. The event expanded its scope to 38 administrative districts, featuring 70 sports landmarks and eight hiking trails. Participants earned digital badges via an app for completing walking and running milestones, with top performers reaching ‘Diamond’ status.
Simultaneously, the 2026 Xiong Zheng Wu Dou International Street Dance Competition took place at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall. Now in its sixth year, the two-day festival featured international judges from Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Slovenia. The crew ‘HRC Sniper Force’ won the Breaking Crew Battle, earning 280,000 TWD and a spot in the 2027 Battle of the Year world finals. The individual ‘1 ON 1 Breaking Battle’ was won by ‘Gluttony,’ who secured a seed for the upcoming Kaohsiung Pili Dance International Competition.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai attended the dance competition to support youth development and the promotion of local trend culture.
