Kaohsiung hosts World Federation of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce annual meeting

The 32nd Annual Conference of the World Federation of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce was held in Kaohsiung, featuring participation from President Lai Ching-te, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qi-mai. The event focused on strengthening economic ties between Taiwan and overseas Taiwanese business leaders.

Mayor Chen Qi-mai highlighted Kaohsiung’s readiness for the next decade of industrial growth, specifically noting its emergence as a hub for AI and semiconductors. He cited the mass production of TSMC’s 2nm process in Kaohsiung and the presence of advanced packaging clusters like ASE and Winbond. To attract investment, the city offers tax incentives of up to 15% in areas such as the Qiaotou Science Park and the Baipu Industrial Park, supported by a single-window service for enterprises.

President Lai Ching-te noted that government initiatives to promote investment in Taiwan have seen over 1,800 companies approved, with investments totaling nearly 2.8 trillion TWD, creating over 100,000 domestic jobs. Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim emphasized Taiwan’s economic resilience amidst global challenges like geopolitical shifts and energy transitions, urging overseas businesses to continue acting as bridges between Taiwan and the global market.
