Kaohsiung Ocean Affairs Bureau promotes marine conservation education
The Kaohsiung City Ocean Affairs Bureau held a presentation to showcase the results of its Marine Conservation Education Promotion Program. Funded by the Ocean Affairs Council's Marine Conservation Administration, the initiative was implemented by a professional team from the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
The program included interactive teaching sessions across 42 elementary and junior high schools in Kaohsiung. The curriculum focused on four key pillars: marine wildlife conservation, marine environmental protection, sustainable seafood education, and discussions on marine issues.
To provide hands-on experience, the program organized outdoor activities for students from remote areas, including Taoyuan, Neimen, and Shanlin districts. These students visited Kaohsiung Love River Bay to participate in non-powered water sports, such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and dragon board activities, to foster a connection with the ocean and promote sustainable conservation concepts.
