Kaohsiung police arrest man for stealing motorcycle left with keys in ignition

Police in Kaohsiung's Qianzhen District arrested a 53-year-old man after he allegedly stole a motorcycle that had been left running with the keys still in the ignition. The theft occurred in the early hours of September 26 near Ersheng 2nd Road.

Following the report, officers reviewed surveillance footage and tracked the suspect's movement toward the Lingya District. Within approximately 35 minutes of the initial report, police intercepted the man riding the stolen vehicle. The suspect initially claimed the motorcycle belonged to a friend but later admitted he took it because he 'wanted to go for a ride.'

The man was also cited for failing to wear a helmet and has been referred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of theft.
