Kaohsiung police investigate suspected group murder of 22-year-old

Police in Kaohsiung are investigating a suspected mass assault and murder involving eight individuals following the surrender of a 22-year-old man. On September 30, the suspect, identified by the surname Mu, drove to the Nanzi Police Station with the body of a 22-year-old man, surnamed Chang, in his vehicle trunk.

Initial reports suggested Mu killed Chang over a 100,000 TWD debt dispute using a one-meter-long hot glue strip. Mu reportedly drove toward Taitung with the intention of abandoning the body before returning to Kaohsiung to surrender. However, investigations have since expanded, with authorities detaining seven additional suspects, including individuals aged 19 to 33, for suspected involvement in the collective assault.

The Nanzi Police Station and the Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office are leading the investigation. Prosecutors have requested detention for Mu, citing risks of flight, collusion, and destruction of evidence.
