Kaolack hosts training program for Senegalese municipal councilors
The Association des conseillers municipaux du Sénégal (ACMS) has launched a national training program for territorial elected officials in Kaolack. The initiative focuses on improving the mastery of the General Code of Territorial Collectivities, Act 4 of decentralization, and territorial poles.
ACMS President Serigne Saliou Ndiaye stated that the program aims to strengthen the capacities of municipal councilors to better exercise their responsibilities in territorial governance and contribute to local development. The program, which began in Dakar in July, will be progressively deployed across all regions of Senegal.
The training is being implemented with support from technical partners, including the Agence régionale de développement (ARD) and experts from the Agence de développement local (ADL). Fatou Sène Diouf, Director General of the Centre national de la fonction publique locale et de la formation (CNFPLF), endorsed the initiative, noting its alignment with the mission to strengthen the skills of local officials and agents during ongoing institutional reforms.
