Kaolack urban modernization sees road and solar lighting progress

In Kaolack, Senegal, urban modernization efforts are progressing through the City Modernization Program (Promovilles). During a site visit on September 17, 2026, Minister of Infrastructure Déthié Fall reported the completion of 4.238 kilometers of roads and the installation of 160 solar streetlights.

The project includes sanitation improvements and solar lighting to enhance security and living conditions. In the Bongré neighborhood, residents noted that the rehabilitation of three secondary axes addresses demands that had been unmet for decades. Additionally, AGEROUTE has rehabilitated seven kilometers of roads. These efforts are part of the Program for the Development of Roads in Secondary Cities of Senegal (PA2VS), which targets 99 communes.
