Kaoru Mitoma faces potential January exit from Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Kaoru Mitoma may leave the club during the January transfer window due to stalled contract negotiations. Although his current contract runs until June 30, 2027, reports suggest that progress on an extension has slowed, with the player reportedly being cautious about further commitments due to interest from other clubs.

To avoid losing the Japanese international for free in the summer of 2027, Brighton may consider selling him in January for a transfer fee. Several Champions League clubs have reportedly expressed interest in the player, eyeing a potential move.

Mitoma is currently working toward a return to the first team following a hamstring injury. Medical staff and fitness trainers are managing his recovery, with a return to action expected around mid-October. While the club desires a contract extension, his future remains uncertain depending on his performance and fitness upon his return.
