Kapitan Andreevo border officials seize large amounts of undeclared cash

Customs officials at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing, located opposite Turkey's Kapıkule crossing, seized significant amounts of undeclared foreign currency between September 20 and September 23. The total amount confiscated includes 81,385 euros and 19,750 US dollars.

During the inspections, authorities discovered cash hidden in various locations, including clothing pockets, handbags, and shoes. Notable incidents involved a Romanian citizen found with 13,000 US dollars hidden in their shoes and handbag, and three other Romanian citizens carrying a combined 29,635 euros and 6,750 US dollars in their luggage.

Other seizures included 12,950 euros from a Serbian citizen traveling by car and 16,800 euros from a German truck driver. On September 23, an Iranian citizen traveling from Austria through Bulgaria and Turkey was found with an additional 22,000 euros. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individuals involved under currency laws.
