Kapıkule Border Crossing sees heavy traffic as Turkish expats return to Europe
Turkish citizens living in Europe are experiencing increased travel congestion at the Kapıkule Border Crossing as the summer holiday season concludes. Travelers are heading toward destinations including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Belgium via Bulgaria.
In response to the seasonal influx, İYİ Party Edirne Deputy Mehmet Akalın and local party officials met with expatriates at the border to distribute water and brochures. Akalın stated that the party aims to listen to the concerns and suggestions of citizens living abroad to bring these issues to the Turkish Parliament.
Travelers reported a mix of satisfaction with their time spent in Turkey and sadness regarding their departure. Many noted that while the holiday period allowed for essential family visits, the return journey involves navigating long queues at passport and customs control points.
