Kaposvár Mayor Károly Szita addresses school year opening

Kaposvár Mayor Károly Szita addressed students and educators during the city's official school year opening ceremony held at the Kinizsi Lakótelepi Tagiskola. As the new academic year begins for 10,663 students in Kaposvár, Szita emphasized that the primary metric for any educational policy or change should be the best interest of the child.

Addressing upcoming shifts in educational policy and curriculum, Szita stated that the focus should not be on choosing between the new and the old, but rather on choosing what is good. He urged educators to prioritize whether changes make schools safer, increase knowledge, or foster curiosity and empathy in students.

The Mayor also acknowledged the unique needs of individual students and described the teaching profession as a true service. He reaffirmed the city's commitment to supporting schools and families, noting that urban development in Kaposvár is ultimately intended to create a better environment for the next generation to grow, work, and live.
