Karabük delegation inspects Railport infrastructure for new logistics center

A delegation from the Karabük Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KTSO) visited the Railport Terminal in Kartepe, Kocaeli, to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed Karabük Logistics Center. The visit focused on examining intermodal logistics infrastructure, specifically how railway, road, and sea transportation can be integrated into a single hub.

The delegation inspected Railport’s six railway lines, each 750 meters long, to evaluate the advantages of railway infrastructure for load transfer and time management. They also reviewed the facility’s 20,000 square meter storage area, which includes a 15,000 square meter warehouse and a 5,000 square meter Customs Inspection Area (GMA).

Information was gathered regarding the handling of various cargo types, including containers, general cargo, finished vehicles, trailers, and swap bodies. The technical visit included representatives from the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA), the Karabük Investment Support Office (YDO), and various industrial zone managers to ensure the Karabük Logistics Center incorporates best practices in intermodal integration.
