Karabük hosts Turkish World Documentary Film and Award Ceremony

The Turkish World Documentary Film and Award Ceremony was held in Karabük, hosted by the Karabük Journalists and Communication Association under the coordination of the Turkish World Journalists Federation. The event featured film screenings aimed at showcasing the core values of the Turkish world through cinema and documentaries, a tradition maintained for 11 years by the federation.

Screenings included films such as ‘Write My Name’, which addresses the situation in Palestine, and ‘We’ by Azerbaijani director Orman Aliyev. Karabük Mayor Özkan Çetinkaya spoke on the challenges of maintaining unity across the vast geography spanning from China to Vienna.

During the event, TİMBİR President Dr. Süleyman Basa discussed the evolution of the media sector. He emphasized the need for a clear legal definition of journalism to resolve industry issues and called for media representatives to act collectively. Basa also noted the risks of capital groups using media outlets as power tools and observed the resurgence of radio popularity due to increased time spent in traffic.
