Cemalettin Kani Torun rejoins AK Party

Bursa Deputy Cemalettin Kani Torun has officially rejoined the AK Party after a period as an independent member. Following his resignation from the Yeni Yol Party on August 31, Torun was presented with his party badge by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a meeting of the AK Party Central Decision and Management Board (MKYK).

Torun’s political history includes serving as an AK Party deputy in the 2015 elections. He later left the party in 2019 to help found the Gelecek Party. In the 2023 general elections, he was elected as a Bursa deputy through the CHP list as part of an electoral cooperation agreement. His return to the AK Party increases the party’s total number of deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to 281.
