Karacabey Agricultural Enterprise horse sells for 12 million lira

A foal named ‘Üstün Umut’, raised at the TİGEM Karacabey Agricultural Enterprise in Bursa, was sold for 12 million 50 thousand Turkish Liras during an auction at the Istanbul Veliefendi Hippodrome.

The Karacabey facility has a history spanning seven centuries, originating from land gifted to Orhan Gazi. During the Ottoman era, it operated as ‘Çiftlikat-ı Hümayun’ to supply horses for the palace and military. Modern purebred Arabian horse breeding at the site was established between 1932 and 1936 following instructions from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, utilizing bloodlines from Syria, Iraq, and the Arabian Peninsula.

Currently, the enterprise manages 600 horses under the care of 60 personnel and veterinary experts. The facility utilizes 12 stallions from six different families to produce racing prospects. The horses follow a strict regimen of oats, high-protein pellets, vitamins, and minerals, supplemented by grazing in natural pastures.
