Karacadağ tomatoes exported to Italy and the US

Sun-dried tomatoes grown on the slopes of Karacadağ, at the intersection of Diyarbakır, Mardin, and Şanlıurfa, are being exported to international markets, including Italy and the United States. The tomatoes are harvested, salted with rock salt, and dried under the sun in temperatures reaching 45-50 degrees Celsius.

These organic tomatoes are primarily used as ingredients for pizza and hamburger sauces. The production process provides significant employment for local villagers, who work under challenging heat conditions. Producer Mustafa Çubuk reported that 200,000 decares of land were planted with tomatoes this year, contributing to the regional and national economy.
