Karachi: Neighbor Hamza arrested for murder of 6‑year‑old boy

A six‑year‑old boy from the Lea Market area of Karachi was abducted, sexually assaulted and his body was later discovered inside a gunny sack that had been thrown from a third‑floor flat. The victim’s father, a rickshaw driver, described his loss: "My son was born after years of prayers, and that tyrant destroyed my entire world."

Police identified the child’s neighbour, identified as Hamza, as the suspect. He was taken into custody after residents detained him and handed him over to authorities. The case was registered at Napier Police Station, and a post‑mortem was conducted at Civil Hospital. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received the initial police report, instructed a transparent investigation, and ordered that the victim’s family be kept fully informed. Provincial officials, including the Interior Minister and senior police officers, stressed that the perpetrator will face the maximum legal penalty and that the investigation will proceed without bias.

The incident has sparked public outrage in Karachi, with community members demanding swift justice for the child.
