Karachi court acquits Karsaz accident driver in narcotics case

A judicial magistrate in Karachi has acquitted Natasha Danish in a narcotics case stemming from the fatal Karsaz road accident in August 2024. The court cited a lack of evidence, as the prosecution failed to prove the charges against her.

The defense argued that chemical analysis and blood tests did not detect methamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth or ice. The defense counsel further alleged that police had tampered with the samples and that the investigating officer had concealed blood test reports during the investigation.

The original accident occurred on August 19, 2024, when Danish’s vehicle crashed into multiple vehicles near the Pakistan Maritime Museum, resulting in the deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his daughter, Aamna Arif. While Danish was previously acquitted in the murder case following a reconciliation agreement between the families, this ruling specifically addresses the separate charges related to the use of prohibited substances.
