Karachi faces surge in robberies and organized theft
Karachi is experiencing a surge in criminal activity, including daylight robberies and organized theft. In Gulistan-e-Johar, armed motorcyclists robbed four women at gunpoint, seizing cash and mobile phones. CCTV footage captured the suspects, who were wearing niqabs, during the incident.
Other reported crimes include a robbery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal where five suspects held a family hostage to steal gold jewelry and cash, and several incidents targeting students in Model Colony and near the University of Karachi. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
In a separate incident in the Gudap area, an event organizer allegedly defrauded over 50 women. The women, who were lured to a farmhouse under the pretense of a job opportunity involving a 25-day event, were instructed to leave their mobile phones in one place to avoid disturbing a scheduled speech. The organizer subsequently fled with the devices. Affected women have filed reports with the Gudap police station.
