Karachi: Five family members found dead in Bin Qasim residence

Five members of a single family were found dead in a locked residence in the Bin Qasim area of Karachi, near Gulshan-e-Hadeed. The deceased have been identified as Shahzaib, his wife Saba, his sister Shumaila, and their two young daughters, Aizal and Arya.

Preliminary investigations suggest a possible mass suicide driven by severe financial difficulties. Police recovered a handwritten note attributed to Shahzaib, which detailed the family’s lack of income and alleged harassment and humiliation by relatives when seeking financial assistance.

At the scene, the bodies of Shahzaib and Saba were found on a sofa with apparent gunshot wounds, and a pistol was recovered near Saba. The bodies of the sister and two children were found on a bed; investigators are examining whether poisoning was involved in their deaths.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has ordered a transparent and impartial investigation to determine the exact cause of death and to establish if any criminal elements were involved.
