Karachi football team robbed at gunpoint on Balochistan highway

The Karachi District West football team was robbed at gunpoint on the Balochistan highway on Monday evening, September 28, 2026. The team was traveling to Quetta to participate in the Chief Minister's Gold Cup tournament when approximately a dozen armed men intercepted their bus between Mastung and Sariab.

According to team manager Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the assailants ordered passengers to disembark, stole mobile phones, cash, and other valuables, and assaulted some passengers. The group was reportedly held for about an hour during the incident.

Muhammad Azam, secretary of the Sindh Football Association, noted that the association had previously advised Karachi clubs to avoid traveling to Quetta by bus or train due to the volatile security situation in the region.
