Karachi hosts interfaith and religious celebrations for Independence Day

Religious and interfaith celebrations marked Pakistan’s Independence Day in Karachi, highlighting the country’s cultural and religious diversity.

An interfaith gathering was hosted at the Marriott Hotel Karachi by Dr. Pastor Sultan Sardar Bhatti of CtnPakistan, in collaboration with the International Religious Freedom Roundtable Pakistan. The event included diplomats, faith leaders, and political figures such as Senator Kamran Michael and Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed. Discussions focused on religious freedom, equal rights, and the importance of communal harmony and peace.

Simultaneously, the Hindu community in Karachi held the Jagannath Rath Yatra, a large-scale religious procession led by Shree Guru Ram Nath Mishra Maharaj. More than 7,000 devotees participated in the march, which originated from the historic Shree Punch Mukhi Hanuman Mandir in Soldier Bazar. This year’s procession was noted for its significant scale and its integration with Independence Day celebrations, with participants emphasizing messages of brotherhood and tolerance.
