Karachi launches new road and multi‑billion flyover projects

The Sindh provincial government has awarded four infrastructure contracts worth about Rs 8.5 billion to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The package includes a Rs 2.3 billion flyover interchange near the Northern Bypass on the M‑9 Motorway, a Rs 2.1 billion flyover at the Abul Hasan Isphahani Road‑Al‑Asif Square junction, and a Rs 4.16 billion rehabilitation of Hawksbay Road. Work on three of the projects is slated to begin in August, aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Karachi.

Separately, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated a newly built road linking Khwaja Ajmer Nagar in District Central with Manghopir in District West. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation first replaced water, sewerage and drainage lines and installed new street lighting before laying the road, enhancing both utility reliability and public safety. The new link is expected to shorten travel times for residents and improve access between the two districts.
