Karachi Mayor's office damaged in KMC building fire

A fire broke out at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters on Tuesday, causing extensive damage to the office of Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and his personal secretary.

According to fire department officials and KMC spokespersons, the blaze originated in a kitchen adjacent to the mayor’s office before spreading into the office space. Emergency responders deployed multiple fire tenders and water tankers to contain the flames. While the office was gutted, all staff and personnel were able to evacuate the building in time, and no casualties have been reported.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire. This incident follows a recent fire at a clothing factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone and a previous deadly blaze at the Gul Plaza shopping mall, heightening public concern regarding fire safety standards in Karachi.
